Since 2018
From a passionate idea in Kathmandu to a national movement - the journey of Nepal Table Soccer through the years.
Milestones
Every milestone represents a step toward making table soccer accessible and impactful across Nepal.
The Nepal Table Foosball Association (NTFA) was founded in Kathmandu, led by General Secretary Umesh Ghimire and Dr. Prakash Pradhan, with a vision to transform foosball from a recreational pastime into a recognized national sport.
Nepal achieved a significant global milestone by becoming an official Associate Member of the International Table Soccer Federation (ITSF), connecting Nepali players to the global table soccer community.
Marking the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace, the association held its first major seminar, "Table Soccer as Inclusive Sport," inviting educators to explore the game's power to engage children of all backgrounds.
Table soccer was formally introduced to the sports curriculum at Premier International IB World School, setting a benchmark for foosball as a developmental tool in Nepali elite education.
In a first-of-its-kind move in Nepal, the NTFA inaugurated a dedicated table foosball program for children with special needs at the Navjyoti Centre. The project focused on using the sport to improve neural coordination and reduce digital addiction.
ITSF World Ambassador Gonzalo Dos Santos (Portugal) visited Nepal to conduct workshops alongside Umesh Ghimire. This collaboration helped elevate local technical standards and increased visibility for the sport in Kathmandu's school circuits.
The association successfully hosted the Excelsior Nepal Open International Table Soccer Tournament - a landmark event sanctioned as an ITSF 250 World Tour category, attracting both local and international competitive talent.
The association continues to expand its nationwide network, collaborating with sports hubs like H2O Club and London Pub, and preparing Nepali athletes for future ITSF World Cup participation.
